Soccer Superheroes is a soccer league for children with disabilities. In 2023, Calahan Moore, a 14 year old with a passion for community service, and Katy Handell, the 2023 Teacher of the Year for Lexington School District 1, teamed up to create this special league. 

Calahan's passion and Katy's expertise as a Preschool Special Education Teacher created the perfect combination to fulfill a need in the community for underserved children with disabilities. 

Soccer Superheroes' inaugural season began in April 2023 and was a great success, serving over 100 children with disabilities. Each age group (4-7 and 8-11) participated in a 30 minute practice followed by a 30 minute game. Each child received a team t-shirt, personalized soccer ball and trophy.

Soccer Superheroes' 2023 fall season was also a success on an even greater scale, serving an additional 100 children with disabilities, ages ranging from 4 - 18! The program continued to grow, hosting two more seasons in the spring and fall of 2024. 

    Soccer Superheroes' 2025 spring season will take place March 9th, 16th and 30th. Registration is open and the link can be found under "News and Upcoming Events".
